Renowned HSTV journalist Blessed Mhlanga was finally reunited with his family Wednesday night after spending 73 days in remand prison.
Mhlanga walked out of Chikurubi Remand Prison amidst a wave of relief and celebration from loved ones and colleagues alike.
The journalist’s release marks the end of a challenging period marked by legal battles and uncertainty.
Mhlanga was detained on charges related to his journalistic activities, which sparked widespread concern about press freedom and the safety of media practitioners in the country.
Mhlanga had been granted bail on Tuesday but however was not released in the morning as the documents of release had gone missing. Some however stated that it was a delay tactic as they were afraid releasing him during the day will attract a crowd .
