In a significant crackdown on corruption within Zimbabwe’s telecommunications sector, the secretary of state owned NetOne Private Limited Plaxedes Chikutu, was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) on allegations of obstructing justice.
The arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation into two NetOne employees who stand accused of hacking and financial fraud.
The ZACC’s operation targeted Chikutu after investigators gathered evidence suggesting that she may have played a role in hindering the progress of the criminal inquiry into the employees’ activities.
