Former Studio 263 actress Tinopona Katsande took to Facebook to voice her outrage over the dire state of healthcare in Zimbabwe, likening the situation to genocide.

She highlighted the lack of essential medical supplies and services in government hospitals, claiming that patients are dying due to negligence and inadequate resources.

Katsande recounted personal tragedies, including the death of a baby due to medical negligence and a teenage girl who succumbed to an asthma attack because hospitals lacked basic treatments like oxygen and nebulizers.

She criticized the government’s misleading claims about the availability of ARV medicines and expressed her deep anger and frustration about the system’s failure to provide adequate care.

She emphasized that the situation is deadly for those without the means to afford private healthcare, urging a collective acknowledgment of this crisis rather than complacency.

This is accompanied by an incident whereby a South African citizen who was working in Zimbabwe failed to get treatment and South African authorities flew the person in with a helicopter as to receive adequate treatment.
