Tafi, the talented guitarist for renowned Zimbabwean musician Alick Macheso, has shared the harrowing story of his battle with sudden blindness and the mental health struggles that followed.
Tafi admits that the dark clouds of despair once drove him to the brink of suicide.
“I almost committed suicide,” he confesses, his voice quivering with emotion. “I could not imagine myself in this situation, navigating life without my sight. It felt like the end of the road for me.”
Tafi’s world changed drastically when he experienced a sudden loss of vision, a condition that left him grappling with fear, confusion, and hopelessness.
In his darkest moments, Tafi found solace and strength through the unwavering support of his mentor, Macheso.
“I owe everything to Macheso for talking me out of my suicidal thoughts,” he revealed.
