The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has distanced itself from Joel Sangweni, who falsely claimed to be a lecturer, after he made a provocative Facebook post that sparked outrage on social media.
In the post, Sangweni suggested that he would ensure South African students fail while favoring Zimbabwean students.
“We don’t make money here, mina I’m a lecturer, I will make your kids suffer and fail, those from Zimbabwe will pass with distinctions.” Following the backlash, UJ clarified that Sangweni is not affiliated with the institution.
