Tinashe Mutarisi has taken a strong stance against the customary practice of bride price, asserting, “I won’t accept bride price for my daughters!”

His declaration has sparked conversation about the evolving roles of cultural traditions in contemporary society.

Mutarisi emphasizes that, regardless of cultural expectations, he will not accept money as a form of payment for his daughters.

“At this very moment, no one will convince me to accept money as payment of any sort for my daughter,” he stated passionately.

His perspective reflects a growing sentiment among individuals who see the traditional bride price as outdated and incompatible with modern values of respect and equality in relationships.

He also reassured his daughters that they are valued and respected.

“If you marry my daughter and you no longer want her, she is welcome to come home anytime, any day!” Mutarisi asserts, proudly recognizing the worth of his daughters, whom he has nurtured to be “queens.”

He underlines that it is not a reflection of their value if a relationship fails, but rather an indicator of the partnership’s dynamics.
