In a stirring message shared on Facebook, Gift Ostallo Siziba has called on fellow Zimbabweans to unite in the fight against corruption, citing recent revelations from South Africa’s Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) that expose the staggering extent of financial misappropriation involving notorious businessman Wicknel Chivhayo.

According to the FIC, Chivhayo, often described as a “poster boy of corruption,” received a staggering R800 million from a dubious South African election materials supplier, which itself was disbursed R1.1 billion from the Zimbabwean Treasury.

This shocking revelation has raised alarms about the ongoing plundering of national resources and the dire implications it holds for the future of Zimbabwe.

Siziba’s message underscores the urgent need for Zimbabweans to demand accountability from those in power, particularly as the country grapples with serious socioeconomic challenges.

Public hospitals are in disarray, education is becoming increasingly inaccessible for many children, and civil servants struggle to make ends meet due to meager wages.

The financial mismanagement by those in positions of authority stands in stark contrast to the struggles faced by everyday Zimbabweans.

“This grand-scale looting poses serious threats to the very existence of Zimbabwe as a country,” Siziba warned, emphasizing the need for collective action.

He criticized the ruling Zanu PF party and its affiliates for siphoning national funds into foreign bank accounts while citizens endure the ramifications of corruption-fueled de-industrialization and economic decline.
