Tapiwa Freddy, known as Prophet T. Freddy, was absent from the Kadoma magistrates court as the trial of property developer Kudakwashe Taruberekera got underway.
Freddy is accusing Taruberekera of illegally revoking a donation of land, which he claims was given to him as a sign of appreciation for his ministry work.
The trial, overseen by Magistrate Kumbirai Nyika, proceeded without Freddy and other key witnesses, leading to a rescheduling of the case for April 23.
Freddy’s lawyer, Jivas Mudimu, initially stated that his client was driving and would be available to talk later, but attempts to reach him after the delay were unsuccessful.
At the center of the dispute is a donation of land that Freddy claims was made to him by Taruberekera in 2016. According to Freddy, Taruberekera offered him four plots of land, including one for his church, Goodness and Mercy Ministries. However, Freddy has reported different numbers in various cases, claiming he was deprived of either four or five plots.
Taruberekera denies all allegations against him, arguing that Freddy’s actions are an attempt to misuse the court system.
