Zimbabwean billionaire businessman Strive Masiyiwa has issued a stern warning to African countries, become investor-friendly or risk missing out on billions of dollars in technology investment.
Speaking at the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit in Rwanda, Masiyiwa emphasized that he and other investors like him will only consider investing in countries that have created a favorable business environment.
Masiyiwa, who has partnered with technology giant Nvidia to bring supercomputer technology to Africa, is planning to build the continent’s first artificial intelligence factory in South Africa, with data centers in Kenya and Egypt.
However, he made it clear that he will not engage with countries that are not willing to reform their investment climate.
“I will not tell you why you are not attracting investment,” Masiyiwa said, referring to leaders of countries that are not investor-friendly. “I will simply walk away.”
