
The Minister of (ICT), Tatenda Mavetera, has emphasized the importance of collaboration between governments and innovators in unlocking transformative investments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology.
Responding to comments by Fadzayi Mahere, Minister Mavetera thanked Strive Masiyiwa for his insights at the GAISAfrica2025 conference.
The Minister outlined her ministry’s priorities, which include streamlining regulations to fast-track tech infrastructure projects, incentivizing research and development (R&D) partnerships and private-sector co-investment, and building secure digital ecosystems with reliable power, connectivity, and talent pipelines.
Minister Mavetera also announced plans to introduce more investor-friendly policies in the ICT sector, citing the need for urgent action to position Zimbabwe as the next tech hub.
She mentioned that the government is working on several policies, including an ICT startup and venture capital policy, fintech and cryptocurrency policy, and tax incentives for the ICT sector.
The Minister invited stakeholders, including Fadzayi Mahere, to join a roundtable discussion at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Digital Economy Conference and another summit next month to shape actionable solutions in ICT.
She emphasized the importance of turning ambition into impact through collective effort.
