Zimbabwe’s First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa, has succeeded in silencing a prominent critic of her husband’s regime, as Eddie Cross, a close adviser and biographer of President Mnangagwa, was forced to issue a public apology for his recent comments on corruption and cronyism.

In an interview with South Africa’s Newzroom405, Cross made explosive claims about the involvement of the President’s children in corrupt activities and alleged that the regime’s annual corruption and looting of public funds now exceeds the national budget.

The comments sparked a swift backlash from the First Lady, who publicly dressed down Cross for his remarks.

Instead of addressing these pressing issues, the Mnangagwa regime has resorted to silencing critics and dissenters, using corrupt influencers and fake news websites to spread falsehoods and tarnish the reputation of journalists and activists who dare to speak out.
