A faction within Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU-PF, has launched a significant challenge to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s bid to extend his presidency.

The faction, which opposes Mnangagwa’s continued stay in power, has released a draft impeachment motion to the media, paving the way for a potential showdown within the party.

This move comes on the heels of a recent shutdown protest, which was led by war veteran leader Blessed “Bombshell” Geza.

Geza had announced that his group would pursue impeachment proceedings against Mnangagwa, citing concerns over the president’s leadership and the country’s economic struggles.
