A recent statement by Dr. Walter Mzembi replying to Jackie Ngarande’s plea for assistance, has sparked a heated debate on social media regarding a case of a 14-year-old girl who is eight months pregnant and a school dropout.
Dr. Mzembi tweeted, “This is a Police Case JackieNgarande . Rape Case PoliceZimbabwe before we normalize the abnormal. The rest follows thereafter.”
While some Zimbabweans agree with Dr. Mzembi’s call for a police investigation and emphasis on addressing the case, others argue that the immediate priority should be assisting the pregnant teen with her urgent needs, such as baby wear and maternity care.
With the teen’s due date looming, many are concerned that her health and well-being, as well as that of her unborn child, should take precedence.
