Lovemore Mangolela a security guard employed by Thinus Maritz Pvt Ltd at Marblehall Limpopo , South Africa was violently assaulted, resulting in serious injuries, after being falsely accused of stealing.
Johan Maritz summoned police officers from Marblehall and a security company called Ratel to apprehend and discipline Lovemore, whom he had falsely accused of theft.
The responding officers and security personnel subjected Lovemore to a brutal beating and restrained him with ropes.
The torture continued as they repeatedly beat him, placed him in a fridge, and removed him only to beat him again, leaving him on the brink of death.
Lovemore was left severely injured and was hospitalized, where the medical staff requested an accident report from his employer.
Johan Maritz failed to provide the necessary documentation, despite initially being the culprit behind Lovemore’s injuries.
Furthermore,when asked to provide evidence to support the accusations against Lovemore, the employer admitted that none existed.
Lovemore further experienced injustice as he was dismissed from his position without compensation, and his employer has taken no responsibility for the wrongful accusations and torture he endured.
The matter was reported to CCMA in Limpopo and they are waiting for the arbitration date from the authorities.
