Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera has condemned the violence that erupted during a peaceful demonstration by civil servants in Lilongwe on Wednesday, and has called on the Malawian police service to investigate and arrest those responsible.
The demonstration, which was intended to be a peaceful protest, turned violent when unknown individuals attacked the civil servants.
The President has expressed his dismay and disappointment at the incident, and has urged the police to take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
