Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has issued a strong warning to individuals and groups planning to protest on March 31.

In a statement, Mnangagwa emphasized that the planned protests will not be allowed to disrupt the country’s development trajectory.

“We will not stop our development agenda just because of threats from small boys,” Mnangagwa said. “I warn anybody who may want to be nonsensical and bring chaos in this country: we are ready for any chaos. Whoever preaches hate speech shall be responsible for their hate speech.”

He stated that Zimbabwe needs peace and unity not chaos.

The President’s comments come amid reports of planned protests scheduled for March 31, which are expected to draw thousands of Zimbabweans onto the streets.
