The Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) has officially denied rumors circulating regarding the purported suspension of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga from his position as the party’s Second Secretary.
The clarification comes in the wake of a document that surfaced online, allegedly announcing Chiwenga’s suspension effective immediately.
In a statement released on February 7, 2025, ZANU PF’s Secretary for Information and Party Spokesperson, Farai Mwonzora, emphasized that the document was not authentic and does not reflect the party’s official stance.
Mwonzora urged party members to disregard the misinformation, asserting that Chiwenga remains a vital part of the party’s leadership.
The controversy arose after the leaked notice cited “public utterances inconsistent with party protocol” as grounds for the suspension, referencing Chiwenga’s speeches during the recent National Heroes Acre celebrations in January. The speculation has sparked debates among party loyalists and analysts, questioning the stability of the party’s internal dynamics.
