



The nation is in mourning following the passing of Cde Tinaye Elisha Nzirasha Chigudu passed away.
President Emmerson D. Mnangagwa expressed profound sorrow in a press release, recalling Chigudu’s significant contributions to the fight for independence.
Chigudu, who served as a soldier and intelligence operative during the liberation war, was instrumental in efforts against the oppressive Rhodesian regime.
Captured and imprisoned for 12 years, he displayed unwavering commitment to the cause, crossing into Mozambique to reunite with fellow comrades and continuing his mission after his release.
“His actions and dedication embodied the spirit of resilience that defines our nation,” stated President Mnangagwa. The president highlighted Chigudu’s role in training with the Zimbabwe People’s Revolutionary Army (ZPRA) in North Korea, showcasing his commitment to the liberation struggle.
In recognition of his immense contributions, the ZANU PF Politburo has agreed to accord him the status of National Hero, honoring his legacy and sacrifices for Zimbabwe’s freedom.
The President extended condolences to the Chigudu family, encouraging them to find solace in the knowledge that their loved one played a vital role in shaping the nation.
