Fadzayi Mahere has publicly rebuked South African politician Gayton Mckenzie following his recent comments about Zimbabweans in South Africa.

In a pointed response, Mahere took to social media to challenge Mckenzie’s assertions.

Mckenzie had claimed that Zimbabweans celebrate negative developments in South Africa.

In her response, Mahere described Mckenzie’s remarks as “grossly inaccurate,” emphasizing that Zimbabweans in South Africa are often supportive and engaged in their host country’s socio-economic landscape.

“What’s funny is that Zimbabweans are ever rooting for South Africa to do well,” Mahere stated. She highlighted that during significant events like the Rugby World Cup, Zimbabweans cheer for South African teams, illustrating a sense of camaraderie rather than the division suggested by Mckenzie.

Mahere further criticized Mckenzie’s perspective, saying, “You cannot deny the facts on the ground. Don’t speak for us.”
