Mozambican opposition leader Venancio Mondlane takes an oath of honor as he arrives at Maputo Airport.
He declared himself the President elect as he took symbolic oath of office with a Bible.
Venancio had announced that he will be returning to Mozambique in January 2025 and will be sworn in as the new president.
The decision by the Constitutional Court was however unfavorable to him as Daniel Chapo was announced to be the president.
Venancio upon his arrival declared that he was finally home and was open for any dialogue.
“I’m here in flesh and bone to say that if you want to negotiate with me at negotiation table, I’m here, “he said.
South Africa has been calling for a dialogue between the two parties in order to solve the growing social unrest and violence in Mozambique.
Mondlane was well received by journalists and also a crowd of supporters.
