Residents pleaded for the release of a woman who became known as the anti-vuzu heroin.

Panashe Mpofu has been in prison since the 14th of November and has finally been set free.

Ms Mpofu’ s crime was disciplining teenagers including her own child for attending a Vuzu party.

In Vuzu parties teenagers engage in sinister acts such as drug abuse, consuming alcohol and casual sex competitions which exposes these teens to STI and unwanted pregnancies.

The parent to the other teenager was however not happy about this, so she got Ms Mpofu arrested.

Ms Mpofu was arrested and sentenced to two years in Mlondolozi

This led to an outcry from neitizens as well as residents stating that this lady should be treated as a champion fighting against Vuzu parties.

They said the way this matter was treated was unfair and she should be released.

The matter now involved lawyers and even the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, legal and Parliamentary affairs Mrs Vimbai Nyemba also intervened into the matter

Justice Evangelista Kabasa set Ms Mpofu free after reviewing the case.

Mrs Vimbai Nyemba stated that the high Court could issue a warrant of liberation and Justice Kabasa had done this same after reviewing the case.
