It is not possible to move around at this time in Inhassunge
The death of Mr. Salimo, one of the main Frelimo figures in Inhassunge, has been confirmed. He held strategic positions within Frelimo, becoming head of the verification committee.
Violence broke out in Mussangane after the capture of a Buaramwa survivor who was leading an organized resistance group. We learned from sources that the man, who was forming a resistance force, was arrested and taken to the town in handcuffs yesterday. This act lit the fuse of discontent that had been building up in Inhassunge for decades.
The group of followers of the detained leader reorganized and advanced towards the village. It was in this context that Mr. Nhacungo’s residence was invaded and vandalized, and ended with the kidnapping of his wife by the Naparamas.
The Naparamas thus formed a resistance front that openly confronted the police forces.
