The Sunday Mail reports that Harare City Council intends to demolish over 5 000 illegal houses in high-density suburbs.
Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume said the demolitions are based on 37 High Court orders for occupying land meant for public amenities.
“We have 37 High Court orders obtained by the City Council and private individuals to evict illegal settlers,” said Cllr Mafume.
This comes a few days after government condemned demolitions and construction of structures on illegal land.
