Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi has conceded defeat in the just ended Presidential elections held on Friday.

Masisi’s Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) lost to the opposition parties which won at least 35 of 61 seats in parliament.

The BDP has governed Botswana since 1966.

Masisi’s presidency was marred by high unemployment and allegations of corruption, nepotism and mismanagement.

Meanwhile, Duma Boko from the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) is expected to become the next leader of Botswana.
