The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed that seven people have died and six were injured when a Toyota Hiace collided with a fuel tanker along Harare-Bulawayo road, Kuwadzana 7 turn-off at the intersection of First Street and Bulawayo Road.

In a press statement police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the identities of those who died are yet to be confirmed by their next of kin.

“The bodies of the victims were taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post-mortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital. The five victims have not yet been identified by their next of kin”, said Nyathi.

In an update, police said the death toll had risen to seven.
