A Tanzanian man, Sleiman Amour, was arrested at a roadblock along the Bulawayo-Plumtree Highway after police found him in possession of nearly US$1 million worth of crystal methamphetamine.

Amour 44, a crew member of a cross-border truck, had concealed the crystal meth within a shipment of beans.

He appeared at the Western Commonage Magistrate’s Court, where magistrate Vakai Chikwekwe charged him with possession of specially restricted substances.

Due to language barrier, proceedings could not commence. The case was postponed to 8 November with Amour remanded in custody.
