Former CIO Deputy Director General Lovemore Itai Mukandi, has revealed that the 2017 November coup had been planned a long time back.
Mukandi was speaking after the launch of his new book titled “How Mnangagwa Blindsided Robert Mugabe and Grabbed Zimbabwe”.
He said Emmerson Mnangagwa had been planning the 2017 coup for years, with the roots of the plot taking hold after the Gukurahundi massacres.
Mnangagwa, along with General Constantino Chiwenga and the late Perence Shiri, feared prosecution for the Gukurahundi genocide.
Mukandi also revealed that Robert Mugabe had expressed to him his intention to appoint Dr. Sydney Sekeramayi as his successor.
