1. Military deployed in Mozambique. US Embassy has issued a statement on the Mozambique elections and called for the elections to be transparent. The U.S. Embassy commends Mozambican citizens for peacefully exercising their right to vote in Mozambique’s seventh multiparty general elections. They, therefore, deserve from the CNE/STAE a credible and transparent tabulation that accurately upholds their constitutional right to determine their leaders.

2. The SEOM, which has established its office in Gaborone, Botswana at Avani Hotel, has initiated preparations to deploy election observers to all districts, cities, and towns of Botswana. The observers will observe the country’s pre-election phase, polling day, and post-election processes throughout the upcoming General Elections scheduled for 30th October 2024. The election observers were selected from SADC Member States.
These elections will determine the Botswana’s 13th Parliament as well as elect local councils nationwide. There are a total of 61 seats in the National Assembly and 609 local council seats, all to be contested using first-past-the-post voting system.
