Former President Robert Mugabe’s son Chatunga has issued a public apology for assaulting a police officer at a security checkpoint in Bubi on the Masvingo-Beitbridge road.

Taking to X, Chatunga apologised to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, minister Kazembe Kazembe and police commissioner general Matanga for disorderly conduct.

Mugabe appeared before Beitbridge resident magistrate, Takudzwa Gwazemba who did not ask him to plead to the charges.

He was remanded out of custody to 16 September for a provisional trial date.
