Popular award winning Zimbabwean journalist,  Hopewell Chin’ono,  has shared his journey as a Chevenonv Scholar.

Chin’ono wrote on his social media:

Eighteen years ago, this letter came through my letterbox, changing my career from radio to television and filmmaking.

The scholarship allowed me to pursue any Master of Arts degree programme I chose.
I almost opted for Human Rights but ultimately decided on Documentary Filmmaking (Practice) at Brunel University in London.
This was my second Master of Arts degree, following my MA studies in International Journalism at City University in London.

The prestigious Chevening Scholarship has been a gateway to greater opportunities for many, just as it was for me.

I urge young people with good first degrees to apply for it and focus on enhancing their education.

Investing in one’s education is one of the best ways to open up new opportunities and achieve success in life.
Don’t waste your time on things that don’t add value!

Immediately after finishing my MA studies at Brunel, Tim Singleton gave me my first job in British television as ITV News producer in Africa, as they say, the rest is history!
