The former NBA and University of North Carolina (UNC) basketball legend, Walter Davis has died aged 69.
Davis was visiting his family in Charlotte, North Carolina, when he died of natural causes.
He was a star player for the Tar Heels during the 1970s. Davis compiled an impressive 1,863 points and 670 rebounds, and dished 409 assists.
He is a member of the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.
Davis’ strong amateur career earned him a spot on the US national team, which won gold at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
