Shantel Yeukai Chiwara, a 25-year-old Citizens Coalition for Change member has made history by being sworn in as the first female Mayor of Masvingo.
Chiwara is the youngest person to hold the position. She received a majority of the votes against ZANU PF’s Sengerayi Manyanga.
Chiwara’s deputy is councillor Daniel Mberikunashe, also from the CCC.
She worked as a bank teller at a local bank, and holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Management.
