China Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin has congratulated President Emmerson Mnangagwa for winning the elections.

In a statement, Wang said China is ready to work with the new government to bring the two countries’ comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new heights.

Wenbin urged parties in Zimbabwe to put people’s interests first and resolve differences properly through legal means.

This comes as Nelson Chamisa and the Citizens Coalition for Change party are disputing the election results.

Meanwhile, China said it will not interfere in Zimbabwe’ internal affairs.

“We respect the Zimbabwe people’s choice, wish the country continued stability after the election and greater progress in pursuing national development and prosperity”, read the statement.
