South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa has lifted the suspension of foreign branch Spy Chief, Robert McBride, who was punished for a failed secret mission in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.

McBride was removed from office after four South African spies were captured by the Mozambique military in 2021.

The four spies, their drones and other military equipment, were transported to Maputo where they were kept in a secret location by the Mozambique military for four days.

They were only released after the intervention of former State Security Agency Boss, Ayanda Dlodlo. South Africa apologized to for the mission which was unknown to the Mozambicans.

McBride will likely be re-deployed as Acting Director General in the Department of Defence and Military Veterans.
