Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema, has slammed his predecessor, Edgar Lungu for spending money that he received from China on roads.
Hichilema said Lungu should have prioritised energy projects that would have generated income for Zambia.
Hichilema said Zambia has 40% of the fresh water rivers in Southern Africa and it would have been better for Lungu to use the money he got from China on Hydrogen energy projects.
Hichilema admitted that Zambia is overindebted to China and this situation requires both parties to work together.
Hichilema was speaking at the Council for Foreign Relations.
