South Africans have rejected Home Affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi’s decision to extend Zimbabwe Exemption Permits.

Mastimpa Ngobese started the petition challenging the six months extension granted to ZEP holders.

Ngobese said amid the immigration crisis faced by South Africa, the ANC government has chosen Zimbabweans over South Africans.

“This decision is negatively affecting our health system, unemployment rate and  our scarce resources. We, as citizens reject the extension of ZEP permits until 30 June 2023. We reject the decision in its entirety and we will use all viable legal methods to fight”

More than 1700 people have signed the petition challenging the government’s decision.
