The Sowetan Live reports that the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (Fedhasa) has welcomed the six-month extension forĀ  Zimbabwean exemption permits (ZEPs).

Fedhasa national chair Rosemary Anderson said the cancellation of the permits may have had great impact on some businesses.

Anderson said Requiring of ZEPs to leave SA would cause trauma and pain to people who have been legally looking for better lives.

She said SAā€™s unemployment problem will not be resolved by forcibly removing Zimbabwean permit holders.

“The tourism and hospitality industry could play a key role in this regard if there was a concerted government effort to prioritise removing the red tape hamstringing the industry.”
