Sunday Times reports that the South African military is two months in arrears on their Jeppesson database subscription, resulting in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s official jet not being allowed to fly to International Airport.

The newspaper reports that Ramaphosa had to fly to the DRC using a chartered SAA aircraft with 11 passengers at a cost of R2,6 Million instead of the R800 000 it would have cost if he had travelled on his official Inkwazi, the Presidential Boeing business jet.

The Jeppesen database is a critical software that updates on board systems with information about airports, landing strips and approaches.

The SA Airforce is only required to pay R300 000 for the entire VIP fleet.

It is not clear why the SA Airforce is failing to make the payment for the database.
