Popular award winning Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono, has denied ever challenging Hwange MP, Daniel Molekele, for the position of MDC Alliance spokesman.
The contest between Chin’ono and Molekele is a well known fact in opposition circles.
Reliable sources revealed to Gambakwe Media that in 2017, Nelson Chamisa overlooked Chin’ono for the position, when he made his leadership appointments.
In 2018, Chin’ono was a prominent supporter of President ED Mnangagwa, campaigning for him to be given a chance at local embassies in Harare and in lobbying his international conventions to support the ZANU-PF candidate.
Chin’ono later abandoned President Mnangagwa after he failed a security clearance when he applied for the position of ZBC CEO.
On Friday, Chin’ono responded angrily after Gambakwe Media published the little known fact.
Writing on Facebook, Chin’ono said:
This is FAKE NEWS!
I was never a member of CCC, I support CCC, and I will vote for CCC!
This is propaganda by ZANUPF because ZANUPF and its surrogates it uses to force CCC to do what it wants think that I have a say in CCC because they see me fundraising for people like Sikhala!
They think people like me are telling Chamisa what to do which is incorrect!
Instead of fixing the economy, they are busy spreading propaganda, useless men!

However, the popular journalist did not address his public fight with Binga MP, Prince Dubeko Sibanda.
CCC youth leaders and MPs have openly clashed with Chin’ono after he criticised party President, Nelson Chamisa on his handling of the Kenya elections outcome.
Last week, Chamisa congratulated losing Kenyan Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, before the official results were announced. President William Ruto went on to win the elections.
Chin’ono has also openly criticized Chamisa ‘s 2023 elections strategy, which he says is weak and ineffective.
