City Press reports that MDC-N President, Welshman Ncube still owes former Zimbabwe Vice President, Phelekezela Mphoko over USD $1,6 Million, which he embezzled, after he received USD$2.9 Million from Choppies owner, Ram Ottapathu as payment to Mphoko, who was his client.
The newspaper said Ncube only paid Mphoko $517 000 and $730 219, despite receiving the full amount of $2.9 million.
Mphoko’s son, Siqokoqela told the newspaper that the Bulawayo High Court has finally agreed to hear the case in which the Mphokos are demanding $22.6 Million from Ottapathu, whom they claim illegally divested them when he paid them the $2.9 million.
The Mphokos claim that they owned 51% of Choppies, in line with Zimbabwe’s indeginisation laws, and not the 7% for which they were paid by Ottapathu.
