South Africa is facing a Covid-19 crisis ad the number of infections and deaths have jumped sharply and have now passed 80 000.
This comes as the number of vaccinations have slowed down, especially among males.
Reporting yesterday, the National Department of Public Health said:
As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 2 722 202 with 13 251 new cases reported. Today 516 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 80 469 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 2 474 245 with a recovery rate of 90,9%
Experts predict that South Africa will enter a fourth wave by November.
The number of daily deaths in South Africa has consistently been above 300 for the past two months, while daily new infections have been averaging above 10 000.
