The Zimbabwean government has granted the lawyers association to do their businesses during lockdown.
This comes after the introduction of a new statutory instrument by the government which allows lawyers to move from one place to another pertaining to legal issues.
Lawyers had been excluded from essential workers who were granted permission to work during lockdown.
Zimbabwe lawyers  filed an urgent application to declare VP Chiwenga’s issuance of S.I 10/2021 excluding legal services within the meaning & scope of essential services to be declared to be in contravention of lawyer’s rights in terms of Constitution.
Responding to Urgent Case filed on 6 January 2021, govt introduces SI on 8 Jan allowing lawyers to go about their business as provided in Practice Direction issued by Chief Justice.
