Minister of Information Monica Mutsvanga says Home Affairs is in a bid to clear passport backlog since assessing the document is a right.

Speaking during the cabinet briefing on Tuesday, Mutsvangwa said the Home Affairs has been working on clearing the backlog during the lockdown.

Earlier this year, Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe said the government is making an effort to clear the passport backlog even though the funds are not enough since accessing to documentation is a human right.

In February the passport backlog was at ‪400 000‬.

Mutsvangwa said that high demand of passport is from people in the diaspora who’s passports have expired.
