Zimbabwe Independent reports that the Zimbabwe Military has grabbed 6 Harare properties from Thamer Al Shanfari, an Omani Businessman over DRC diamond deals, a businessman linked to ED Mnangagwa Faction.
This is seen as part of the intensifying fight for Supremacy between various Billionaires funding ZANU PF factions.
While Shanfari is linked to Mnangagwa, another Billionaire, Kalmesh Pattni has been linked to Grace Mugabe and General Chiwenga Faction.
Shanfari was the Chairman of a Joint Venture company formed by the Zimbabwe Military called Oryx Natural resources since 1998.
Oryx is a DRC based company in which the Zimbabwe Military has 30% ownership through Osleg.
Shanfari would however, allegedly, take money from the Oryx mines and pay the Rwandan Army, Zimbabwe ‘s enemies in the DRC war.
The Zimbabwe Military was informed of these activities by Shanfari’ s former bodyguards after they fell out over money, resulting in him getting fired. However, Shanfari was still allowed to stay in Zimbabwe as he had Mnangagwa ‘s protection.
Shanfari fled Zimbabwe after the Coup and has not lived in the Glen Lorne Properties for a long time but is contesting the actions of the Army in court. He is represented by Atherstone and Cook Law Firm.
On the other hand, Pattni has been given exclusive rights to sell Gold on behalf of Fidelity Refineries at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe where Military Intelligence is in charge.
In July, when General Chiwenga was very ill, the Mnangagwa Faction raided USD4 Million from Pattni and undisclosed amounts of Gold, but had to give it back.
