Former Zimbabwe Finance Minister, Terence Mukupe, has posted on his Facebook page for the first time since his release from jail.

Mukupe was serving a long jail sentence at Khami prison and was released this week.
Mukupe is a Wall Street-trained banker who holds a degree from the National University of Science and Technology and an MBA from New York University, specializing in mathematics. In November 2023, Mukupe was convicted of smuggling almost 140,000 litres of diesel fuel into Zimbabwe without paying duty, thereby prejudicing the state of revenue.
He was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay a fine. His appeal against the conviction and sentence was dismissed by the Supreme Court in November 2024.Â
While in prison, He taught mathematics and finance-related subjects to other inmates and even the children of some prison officers at Kami High School. His A-level mathematics class achieved a 100% pass rate in the past year, with his students going on to teach O-levels.
in November 2023, the government revoked an offer letter for Mukupe’s Chishawasha B Farm, halting his plans to develop residential stands on land designated for A1 farmers.
