A warrant of arrest has been issued for Robert Mugabe Junior, the son of the late former Zimbabwean president, after he failed to appear in the Harare Magistrates’ Court for his drug possession trial on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Mugabe Junior, who had been out on US$300 bail since his arrest in early October 2025, was scheduled for trial on charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs (cannabis). Magistrate Lisa Mutendereki authorized the warrant after he failed to respond to repeated calls outside the courtroom.
This incident constitutes a violation of his bail conditions. Three witnesses were present and scheduled to testify, but the proceedings could not continue due to his absence.
Mugabe Junior was arrested on October 1, 2025, after police stopped him for driving the wrong way on a one-way street in Harare and allegedly found two sachets of cannabis in his possession.
