“Uh, greetings everyone. My name is Fely Sibongile Mutsakani, uh, National Chairperson of Investment Promotion for Economic Development (IP for ED). Today is SADC Anti-Sanction Day. We also condemn the uh, the illegal sanctions that were imposed on us by the USA.
Sanctions, they are like NATO. They burn and destroy a nation. Sanctions, they are like cancer. They destroy a nation. Therefore, these sanctions which were imposed on us, uh, by the USA, they are destroying our nation. But His Excellency Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa once said, “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” (A country is built by its owners).
With or without sanctions, we are going to build our country together. And these illegal sanctions, they are not going to, to hold the progress of our nation. Therefore, we also condemn these illegal sanctions on our country because there is no country which has the right to impose sanctions on our, on another country. We also need our economic freedom. By the way, His Excellency also said, “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo.” We are going to keep on pushing until we achieve our economic freedom. Pasi ne ma-sanctions, pasi ne ma-Ntou.”
