Kudakwashe Murisa is leading seven inters€x people in Zimbabwe who are taking the government to court for recognition and protection under the constitution. They want inters€x recognised as a separate legal category, a third s€x marker on birth certificates, IDs and passports, and clear ways to fix existing documents.

They are also demanding a ban on non-consensual surgeries on inters€x children and equal access to dignity, education, healthcare, and the law. Murisa said: “As an inters€x person, I must explain myself every time I use my documents because they don’t match the s€x I was given at birth.”
