Zimdancehall artist Ras Pompy (Nyasha Reginald Mano), who was recently sentenced to six months in prison after being convicted in a Harare court for possessing illegal cough syrup has given his first interview.

Speaking to PaHasha TV, Ras Pompy said prison is just like an other place where people are kept safe and its not all that bad ( But I am not saying you should come here  LOL). He was speaking during visitation by his wife and family during an open day.

On July 16, 2025, police spotted Mano in a vehicle linked to supplying illegal drugs in Harare. When ordered to pull over, he sped off, leading to a high-speed chase that ended when he crashed his car into a pole.

A search of his car led to the discovery of nearly 100 bottles of controlled cough syrups, including Broncleer, Benylin, and Astra Pain, with a street value of nearly US$400. Mano was found guilty of violating the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act. The Harare Magistrates’ Court handed down an effective six-month prison sentence in late September 2025.

Ras Pompy  said his experience in jail is an opportunity to learn and write new music, of which he now has 60 songs.
