WATCH LIVE as Gambakwe looks at the Press Conference by the Zimbabwe Youth Platform (ZYAP). ZYAP did not name the individuals they had threatened to expose for “backing Gaza” [05:13].

Gambakwe explains that the “ED 2030” initiative (referring to President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s leadership until 2030) was “dead” as far as he was concerned [05:43].

Gambakwe also mentioned that he was waiting to see if they would extend the restructuring efforts beyond the politburo as they had requested [05:51]. He concluded by saying that he believed they had “chickened out” and were not brave enough to name the person they had promised to name last week [06:06].

Transcript of the Press Conference

Good morning, gentlemen. My name is Tonderai Shumba Chidawa the chairman of the Zimbabwe Youth Platform. Creating a process must extend beyond the Politiburo to encompass the cabinet and all other institutions.

As the youth of our nation, we commend our revolutionary president for restoring order within our esteemed party through the reorganization of the Politiburo. These crucial steps allow the party to concentrate more effectively on improving the lives of our citizens. As the president has consistently emphasized, we aim to prioritize development while politics follows. The robust and dynamic team assembled by our president is well-equipped to ensure the party delivers on all its resolutions.

We particularly urge this team to focus their efforts on implementing resolution number one, which extends the President’s leadership to continue until 2030. We demand a clear, transparent, and detailed map outlining how this resolution will be realized. It is essential that progress moves beyond merit; decisive actions must follow.

The new team must demonstrate integrity and meet the public’s expectations without fail. Furthermore, we strongly encourage the government to uphold the supremacy of the party and decisively remove any individuals who undermine our leader, the president. There must be no secret in this process.

We have observed certain senior government officials not acting in support of the President’s vision, and such behavior must end with immediate effect. As the youth, we pledge to hold such individuals accountable and expose their detrimental actions.

We call on our president to extend the restructuring efforts beyond the Politiburo to include the government and all state institutions, ensuring that he does not accommodate those who seek to destabilize his leadership of the party’s community.

Together, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to progress, unity, and the realization of a prosperous Zimbabwe under our visionary leadership. We also express our profound gratitude to our philanthropists who continue to uplift the lives of many, be it the party, individuals, or society.

To our brothers and sisters and mothers, we say, do not heed the detractors; the noise of barking dogs will never hold back a moving train. Those opposing you are, without a doubt, no longer aligned with ZANU-PF ideals but are advancing separate agendas that threaten the party’s stability.

It is imperative that this process be comprehensive and unwavering to safeguard the future of our party and nation, eliminating all internal obstacles to development and progress. Lastly, I say, Honorable Tino Machakaire, as we have told you on many occasions, you represent the interests of the youths, not only ZANU-PF youths, not only MDC youths, but the youth of Zimbabwe as a nation. Thank you.
